Henning Schmiedt - Klavierraum (Flau)

July 6th, 2008

HENNING SCHMIEDT - Klavierraum (Flau)Henning Schmiedt’s solo album is a rendez-vous with piano solos. It is a very personal CD by this artist who has been one of the greats on the international world music stage for years now as a composer, arranger and, of course, a pianist.

He himself describes the origins of his current solo CD as follows:”I see the music in Klavierraum as being white. It was a hot August; my heavily pregnant wife needed a room in which she could feel good. Basically she just needed a pleasant room. What I could do for her was to fill the room with music.
With music with lots of beautiful sounds - no philosophy, no obligation, just wonderful sounds. They floated and swam with the music, carried by its beautiful harmonies. Friends visited us; they too seemed to float away on the music. They wanted to have the same music at home. Sometimes the sound can be a soft breeze or water or perhaps just “white” - but really it is just piano music. My solo piano music for at home. For us all.”
